Life is full of tough realities, and one of them is that antique rugs are often more costly than you’d hope. And, as is the case with most things, the bigger you go, the steeper the price tag. But a new drop from Amber Lewis will be good news for anyone looking to cozy up their space a bit. The Molly Collection is a curation of nine rugs produced in collaboration with Loloi (you might remember her super-popular drop with the brand back in 2023). What caught our eye this time around was the vintage-inspired spirit of each design, ultimately offering a more affordable way to get a rug that looks old. The smallest 2×3 option starts at a mere $64.
Loloi used a unique fabrication method to capture some soul, enabling the designer to create near-identical replicas of vintage designs. Each one is OEKO-TEX certified (meaning the rugs don’t contain any harmful substances) and made of power-loomed polypropylene and polyester (read: easy to clean!). The motifs and colorways differ with each product, but the common thread is the faded patterns—each retreats perfectly into the textile, making it seem like they’ve been around far longer than they really have. MOL-03 Ocean Sunset is a playground of diamond shapes, while MOL-05 Lagoon Natural is a wash of navy blue.
It can be tough to know what to do with your rug once you’ve got it—there’s more to it than simply laying it down. Here’s one from Lewis’s own playbook: If you’re putting it in a living room, make sure all four legs of furniture are actually on the rug to avoid an unfinished look. Another one of her tips? In an Instagram post, she shared that bedroom rugs should have one edge 8 to 10 inches from the legs of a nightstand, and the second edge running past the end of the bed. Lastly, stick a washable rug underneath your everyday dining table. You will never regret that move.
