What I’m loving right now: Graceful design juxtaposition, like the contrast between curvature and sharp edges. It’s minimalism and maximalism brought together in a harmonious way, a subtle tension between softness and comfort and edginess and boldness.
Why I love it: Its calming, sensorial quality and fluidity. Juxtaposition in design leads to a dynamic, one-of-a-kind space that avoids the dullness of repetition. Much like yin and yang, contrasting details enhance one another, fostering a sense of balance. Plus they mirror the complexity of human emotions, creating a comforting element within the overall concept.
I’d recommend it to someone who also likes…Surrealism, transitional eclecticism, and design combos such as Japandi.
Three real-life ways I’d try it:
- Combining natural and synthetic materials, like metal and glass with stone and wood. We’ve been into stairways with wood handrails and clear acrylic balusters. It creates a modern look while maintaining warmth.
