What I’m loving right now: Plywood! It can change the energy of a space instantly from uninspired to thought provoking. I love that plywood is a material that is typically viewed as “cheap” or “unappealing,” because I can turn it into a beautiful piece of art that is unexpected. It feels warm and casual while also making it clear that the space was intentionally designed.
I’d recommend it to someone who also likes…industrial design, artistic and thought-provoking homes, experimenting with DIY, and warm spaces.
Where I’ve spotted it in the wild:
Three real-life ways I’d try it:
- Covering a whole wall in plywood, then adding shapes (also plywood) on top as frames for mirrors or storage. This is something I’ve already done and I love it.
- Layering pieces of plywood into an art wall, another project I did in my office. More people need a funky plywood wall in their homes!
