It’s always impressive when anyone lives in a home for more than two decades, but it’s especially true for a person like Clare V. founder Clare Vivier, a lifelong collector. You’d think she would have run out of room in her L.A. home by now! But that’s not the case—our September digital cover star has mastered the art of going with the flow. She’s not afraid to sell a treasured item (like the baby grand piano her kids never play anymore) to make way for something new (the striped sofa she designed in collaboration with Schoolhouse). With no plans to move on from her charming Craftsman just yet, we asked Clare what’s inspiring her next cycle of home updates. —Lydia Geisel, home editor

What I’m loving right now: Pops of color within closets or cabinets. I remember noticing this on Atelier Karasinski’s Instagram a few years ago, and the image (below left) stuck with me.
Why I love it: That hit of color I get whenever I open the wardrobe doors or walk into my kitchen. It gives my antique wineglasses a fun backdrop and adds personality and constant inspiration to my closet.
How I’ve brought it home: My dressing room closet in my house in France (above right) and the cabinets in my L.A. kitchen. My general rule is when you want a pop, you should balance it with a neutral. So since we started with the idea of the back…
