By now you’re aware that lighting sets the tone for any space it inhabits. Dimension can be added depending on the direction and color temperature of spot light accent lighting. Spotlights, including uplights and downlights, are designed to guide the eye towards an area or particular item. This includes furniture, art, signage and much more. When you begin to really look, you’ll notice that the creative use of accent spotlighting is used everywhere in our environment.
A dding accent spotlighting is key to creating an overall ambiance for a room and its contents.
Before purchasing or placing a directional spot light, it’s important to evaluate what you’d like to accomplish with accent spotlights. When using indoor spot lighting, think about how these designs will integrate with your existing room lighting. Map out where your electrical outlets are on walls, whether there are floor outlets, and determine if you want a spot casting light near any windows, or in close proximity to other lighting fixtures where the effect will be less noticeable or dramatic. A central ceiling light can provide offshoot wiring. Knowing where to begin will make your task much easier and more enjoyable.
Start by using fixtures and lamps as you normally would like to illuminate like sitting and dining areas. Then brighten dark room corners and hallways with uplights. To accent particular features such as houseplants, sculpture and books, clip-on lights are easy to place in the home. You’ll love the style and comfort of your layered new look.
Make the Room Appear Bigger
A small room with corner spotlights pointed upward will seem to grow in size. This is due to the fact that washing across the ceiling creates the impression of a larger room. Use a soft bulb. If you must use a chandelier-style light in the center of the room, one that uses both an uplight and a downlight expands the space visually. Recessed spot lighting is visually appealing and is perfect for a small room.
Illuminate Artwork
Direct sunlight and fluorescent lighting will deteriorate artwork. When positioning your lighting in relation to the piece of artwork consider several variables. To help reduce glare, place the light at a 30-degree angle from the piece. Add 5 degrees to the angle for a larger frame, which helps to avoid casting a shadow. Reduce 5 degrees from the position if you are trying to accent the texture of a painting (Right).
Ceiling adjustable spotlights with canopy are pefect for accent lighting. Complete directional spot lights let you add layers to the space by directling lights at different objects such as art, pictures or collectibles.
You can also create a spot light by combining adjustable spot head with a canopy of your choice. You can use a single port canopy or multi port canopy to build your own ceiling spot light.
Garden Spotlights
Add drama to your front yard by spotlighting a specimen tree or other front yard focal point. Uplighting provided by spotlights accentuates the texture of tree trunks and creates a pleasing glow on foliage. G Make sure you position spotlights to focus their beams away from windows or neighbors.
Many spotlights can fulfill any landscape lighting requirements from general area illumination, to flood lighting, to spotlighting and accenting lighting. Pair them with LED MR16 light bulbs for immense energy savings.
